Waterfox is a high performance browser based on the Mozilla Firefox source code. This code is taken and compiled to run specifically for 64-Bit Windows computers. To make Waterfox stand out a bit more, it’s compiled with optimizations so that it will run more efficiently and faster than just compiling Firefox as a 64-Bit program. Having been compiled specifically for this type of system, its performance is better than the standard version of Firefox. Icons and names aside, Waterfox is identical to Firefox, and is updated each time you do the main version, with the difference that your executable has been compiled for x64 and Windows systems. Waterfox is based on the current stable Firefox build, which means it functions in exactly the same way. Aside from its name on the menu at the top of the main window, there’s nothing to differentiate it from Firefox.
